Argentine-Brazilian hydro complex planned

A hydro complex is being considered between the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil and the Argentine province of Corrientes.  Called the Garabi-Panambi, it is to include two damns, the 1.15GW Garabi, and the 1.05GW Panambi, to be built on the Uruguay River.  A feasibility study is being conducted and is expected to be complete in the first half of 2011.  The presidents of both countries have asked their state utilities, Argentinas Ebisa, and Brazils Eletrobras, to speed up the process to meet the energy demands of the rapidly growing South American nations.
