This course is being delivered via Microsoft TEAMS to allow for delegate participation and interaction throughout including Q&A opportunities. Advanced Valves is an entirely valve-focused course which builds on the basic knowledge from the Introduction to Valves course but offers a more comprehensive and detailed delve into the topic. It is suitable for those who wish to achieve a thorough understanding of the main technical issues from procurement, through manufacturing to operation and maintenance of industrial valves. The course is focused on combining theory with the real world experiences of our trainer encompassing the design, manufacturing and operation of industrial valves. The course has now been expanded with selected ASME, EN & API design standards content. This course will cover: Day 1 - Valve basics, general background, terminology, pressure temperature ratings, end connections, marking, pressure testing Day 2 - Design requirements of pressure envelope, body, bonnet (cover), body bonnet bolting & gasket, gland seal, operating mechanism Day 3 - Materials of construction for pressure envelope, trim, material manufacturing. Corrosion mechanisms and NACE Day 4 - Sharing the practical experience that our expert trainer has with respect to production testing, inspection & material certificates, installation and operation, maintenance and repair C.2.5 hours with Q&A Each attendee will receive a certificate of attendance and CPD certificate* plus a Valve & Actuator Users’ Manual (*Subject to completing in course questionnaires) BVAA Principal Technical Consultant Peter Dix CEng MIMechE • Joined Valve Industry as a Development Engineer in 1985 with IMI Bailey Birkett. • Experienced in design and manufacture of gate, globe and check, quarter turn, safety relief and control valves. • Devised PED compliant systems and worked with the PED since it’s inception. • Chairman of BSI Committee PSE18 covering Standards for Industrial Valves and Actuators. • Currently working as a Technical Consultant to UK Valve Industry.

Classroom based training

Our one-day classroom-based courses will follow a similar format:

  • Offices open from 8.30am onwards
  • The course will start at 9.00am prompt
  • There will be a break for lunch, usually 12.30pm - 1.00pm
  • Each course will finish at 5.00pm at the latest

We provide a buffet lunch and would be grateful if you could inform us if you have any dietary restrictions or preferences on booking.

Full notes and course materials are supplied. Delegates will also receive a BVAA Manual specific to the course they attend.

Accessibility

Our training facility is on the first floor, with no wheelchair access. On both the ground floor and first floor we have an accessible toilet.
