PROJECT MANAGER

We are seeking a degree qualified, experienced Project Manager to join our dynamic team.

Job Context:

KT Hydraulics is a specialist in the design, manufacture, testing, installation and commissioning of complex hydraulic systems for the oil, gas, marine, water and process plant industries.

The company’s pump and seal lubrication systems are manufactured to the highest international specifications including API, NORSOK, PED 97/23/EC, and GOST and are used by the world’s major equipment manufacturers and oil companies in applications around the globe.

With design, manufacturing and testing facilities all managed under an ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 & OHAS18001: 2007 accredited quality, Environmental and Health & Safety systems, KT Hydraulics works in partnership with OEM’s and end-user clients in addition to providing installed solutions and is one of a very small number of specialists with the experience and knowledge necessary to provide a concept to commissioning service.

Job Purpose:

Manage the high profile, high value projects running through the business and provide experience, expertise, and guidance to the Project Engineers and Junior members of the Projects department.

Duties:

  • Advise on office procedures for the management of Projects within the department.
  • Provide expert help to the other Project Engineers, based on your experience and service.
  • Provide pragmatic support and help to the shop floor personnel, again using your experience and know how.
  • Support the Engineers in their dealings with customers and suppliers when required.
  • Work closely with the sales and production teams, contributing to the overall success of the company.
  • Liaise with the head of Projects and Engineering on Project matters and form a close working relationship.
  • Liaise with the Technical Manager on Project related matters, and for a close working relationship.

Key Accountabilities:

Ensure projects are delivered on time and to budget, and ensuring remedial strategies are developed when shortfalls are identified.

  • Take responsibility for being the person to go to when a problem arises.
  • Providing expert in-house advice on Project Management matters.

Person Specification - Essential Criteria:

Qualifications: 

Degree/HND in Mechanical Engineering.

Skills:

  • People - coaching & developing others
  • Technical - mechanical engineering design
  • Analytical - practical solutions to problems
  • Organisation - project management
  • Practical - implement solutions
  • IT - computer literacy (Word, Excel, Email, CAD)
  • Communication - verbal and written

Experience:  

  • Experience of specifying and assessing equipment for the Oil & Gas Industry.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of the technical and wider aspects of the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Proven track record of design and project responsibility of mechanical systems
  • Demonstrable experience in the project management of high value mechanical and electrical services and OEM system projects.
  • Experience of managing both in-house and outsourced engineering activities.
  • Experience of working in a Quality Assured environment.

Team working:

Experience of working in a multi-functional team.

Communication:

  • Ability to prepare concise, accurate, well presented documents, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Skilled in preparing external high-level communications.
  • Excellent verbal skills, with an ability to explain complex technical information in clear and simple terms.

Management – including self-motivation and time management:

  • Self-motivated and able to work autonomously.
  • Able to manage own and others’ time and workloads effectively.
  • Experience of managing time, cost and quality in bespoke engineered projects with budgets in the order of £1,000,000 or more.

IT and Other:

  • Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Competent in the use of MS Project and Solid works 3D CAD.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willing to travel and spend time away from home as required.

Person Specification - Desirable Criteria:

Skills:

Detailed knowledge of Solid Works & its processes.

Experience:

Experience of the OEM rotating equipment Oil & Gas Industry.

Recognised training in people management, motivation, and appraisal.
