We work as R&D partners with some of the world’s leading companies, including oil and gas operators, valve manufacturers, energy companies and meter manufacturers. We support companies with basic scientific research and help them to develop their systems and technology and to bring new products to market.

Our extensive test facilities and research and consultancy expertise provide our industry partners with a proven competitive advantage. Even technologies low down the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) can benefit from our R&D expertise.

As the UK Designated Measurement Institute, we also carry out industrial development research on behalf of the UK government. As part of this work, we are developing commercial solutions for sectors such as Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) and alternative fuel measurement (hydrogen and LNG).

TUV SUD NEL’s software and flow measurement modelling group provides industry-leading solutions to flow measurement problems. We offer the following services:

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
CFD can be used to simulate complex problems which would otherwise be extremely expensive and potentially dangerous to physically test. It can offer significant cost and time savings.

Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
TUV SUD NEL offers a full range of FEA consultancy services to the oil and gas industry and other sectors. Our expertise in this modelling technique is backed up by our structural analysis experience and physical testing capabilities.
