SILMETRIC ® provides specialist services in the field of Safety Integrity Levels (SILs). We work with valve and actuator manufacturers, enabling them to understand and apply the international functional safety standards, such as IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 and enabling them to supply compliant products and processes through our training, consultancy and independent assessments.

Manufacturers use SILMETRIC to establish the reliability data of their valves and actuators for use in safety instrumented systems. This involves the use of reliability modelling techniques, for which we can either provide training, tools and coaching, or alternatively perform the analysis on behalf of our client.

Whether the supplier is a product designer or an integrator of actuated valve packages, SILMETRIC can advise on the additional features in the quality management system (ISO 9001) required to support the supply of components for use in safety instrumented systems.

The standards have stringent requirements concerning independent functional safety assessments. To ensure transparency and credibility, all SILMETRIC assessments use the industry recognised CASS methodology and our assessors meet the strict CASS competence criteria.
